Carlton backline mentor John Barker will be the interval mentor.
Soul president Mark LoGiudice affirmed that the club moved to sack Malthouse after a breakdown of trust between the board and the senior mentor, provoked to a limited extent by a provocative radio meeting the previous mentor gave on Monday morning.
